Sonia Nijjar is a Toronto-based lawyer specializing in personal injury law with a focus on medical malpractice cases. She is an associate in Neinstein Personal Injury Lawyers, was called to the bar in 2015. Sonia holds a board position at Reconnect Community Health Services, a non-profit health service organization. She’s also a part of the Research and Ethics Board of a local hospital. Sonia shares her expertise in law by being a regular contributor to the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Medical Malpractice Newsletter.
Sonia came to Neinstein as a summer student in 2013. She completed her articles and now one of the highly reputable lawyers at the firm. She has a stellar track record as a student; graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta. She took up Juris Doctorate at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she was a senior editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal. She also acted as a research assistant and legal intern for various social justice projects. Sonia was also a caseworker at Parkdale Community Legal Services.
She acts on behalf of the plaintiffs in cases involving medical negligence and malpractice. Sonia takes part in the policy and legislative reform relating to medical liability. She is interested in improving patient safety and the standard of quality care. Sonia is one of the associates in Neinstein who is well-versed in speaking different languages – English, Punjabi, and conversational Hindi.
